Los Angeles Department of Planning
On September 27, 2017 at 6:00 pm at the City of Los Angeles, Department of City Planning will hold a Public Hearing regarding the adoption of a Zone Change Ordinance to apply the Hillside Construction Regulation “HCR” Supplemental Use District (SUD) to the area commonly referred to as “Bird Streets” and “Laurel Canyon”. The proposed Zone Change Ordinance is being considered to address community concerns regarding construction phase impacts of single-family home developments in the hillsides.
The proposed Ordinance will establish development standards regulating grading limits and hauling operation standards, a Site Plan Review process for single family home development projects 17,500 square feet or larger, and more restrictive construction hours.
While there aren’t many 17,500 square foot or larger lots, we want to protect our neighborhood from becoming a feeder street for projects in adjacent neighborhoods. The designated streets and neighborhoods do not include Nichols Canyon/Jalmia. It’s extremely important that we are included. We need our voices heard!
Attend: Attend the hearing AND sign speaker cards to ensure our voices are heard. When each person is called to speak, something as simple as “I request that Nichols Canyon/Jalmia and all neighboring streets be included.” This will speak volumes with City Planning and the facilitators of the project.
